  4. Is distance learning effective and/or worthwhile?

    July 15, 2010, 9:21 pm
I am seriously considering a course in HVAC that will cost approximately $800(US$). The vocational school estimates that it will take nine months to complete this course. I am considering distance learning (internet & snail mail) because I work full time (in unrelated industry). The school claims it is nationally recognized and that at the end of the course I will be HVAC certified and EPA approved. I have done my research & somewhat agree with their claim. I want to know, is there anyone out there who has completed such a course or similar course and can rid me of any lingering doubts before I take the plunge into this? Basically, does distance learning work? After completing the course, will I be employable in the HVAC field?

  6. Hard Rock wedding music. . .?

    July 11, 2010, 7:14 am
I'm working on my playlist for my wedding and really want to incorporate some of my favorite artists. I don't want to offend anyone and there will be kids, so no "bad words", please. And the hardest two parts - - I need it to be mainstream enough that people can dance to it and I don't want just "power ballads". I like rock & hard rock. Here's what is already on my list: You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC), New York Groove (KISS), Authority Song (Mellencamp), White Wedding and/or Dancing With Myself (Billy Idol), Girls Girls Girls (Motley Crue). I'm already doing soft stuff by Alice Cooper & Bruce Springsteen. I'd really like to find an Ozzy Osborne or Sabbath tune and any other suggestions are welcomed. THANKS!! I'm walking down the aisle to a string quartet version of "sweet child o' mine". Gn'R & Billy Idol are two of my faves so I may work in even more of their stuff. It doesn't have to be wedding-romance type stuff. I want lively stuff that people are going to get up & dance around to. Scorpions - I can't believe I haven't looked at all their CD's in my ipod yet!
  7. Hydrogen distribution not an option in biomass gasification

    July 10, 2010, 4:51 am
( Delft University of Technology ) When using fuel cells to generate electricity from biomass, the best approach is to do so centrally, in combination with a gas turbine. The production and subsequent distribution of hydrogen is an inefficient process. This is the view of Richard Toonssen, who will defend his doctoral dissertation on this subject at TU Delft in the Netherlands on Thursday, July 8.

    July 7, 2010, 3:17 pm
